Introduction:-

A computer is an electronic device that receives data(instructions) and processes them to produce desired output required by the user and as per the system requirement. Basically a computer was developed to perform logical and mathematical calculation with accuracy and high speed. It is also known as a high speed calculating device for performing millions of calculations within nano or picoseconds with great accuracy. But today, besides performing mathematical operations more than 80% of work done by computer is non mathematical such as storing, retrieving and processing data(information) wherever needed.

         The dictionary definition of a computer is "An automatic electronic apparatus for making calculation or controlling operations that are expressible in numerical and logical terms ". Computers are going to be the "Whiz kid" of our education system. Computation, information storage, communication and control are the four major functions that most of today's computers carry out.
